Flag
It is made up of two stripes: gold at the top and green at the bottom. Yellow symbolizes nobility, wisdom, wealth and perseverance. Green represents faith, hope and freedom.
Shield
The dominant colours are yellow and green. Silver symbolises purity, integrity, firmness and eloquence; black represents prudence, rigour and science. Its figures are: the tower, which symbolises the city of Medellín and its Castilian nobility; and the torch, as a symbol of courage, strength, intrepidity and victory. The letter that borders the shield is a motto in Latin, which translates as: "Let your light shine." Expression taken from the Gospel of Saint Matthew, chapter V, verse 16.
Hymn
Its lyrics are a call to overcome difficulties, to have nobility and to be virtuous and intelligent women.
